the one gift i want to return…

i am home sick from work today..maybe some bad chicken. ick

so i got on the scale this week, just to see how hard hitting the 2 week christmas break was. and it was. 6 pounds. lord. i  don’t think it was eating as much as it was drinking. i had someone to meet for drinks or people over for drinks almost every day of the break. and don’t get me started on the spiked eggnog.

i have some damage control to do.

i think one thing that let me kinda lose of the break, was not weighing in every morning like i usually do. mentally, that gets me on the right track, first thing in the AM. i totally avoided the scale. and now, i gotta re-lose some weight. i know a lot is water, but it has to go, so i can get back to a real loss, not a re-lose.

there is a new workout that i started doing. you know that really in-your-face trainer from the biggest loser? jillian michaels? she has a dvd called “30 day shred”. it is broken into segments, 1 2 or 3. you start at 1, each level is only twenty minutes, but a grueling 20.  i could not sit down easily for 2 days after starting it. but, i can feel the changes and am going to measure before moving to section 2. i think you do each section for 10 days…i’ll let you know!

day 2

ok, maybe i should call this day 1?? since yesterday i didn’t eat 6 mini meals, only ate 4, and did not get around to my lifting. but, on a great note, i did eat 4 wonderful mini meals and lots and lots of water! just like i had outlined in my eating for that day in the meals and moves link. i am going to try and update it every day, even my free day.

we are getting really excited around here for “the dark knight” movie. now, as most people know, we are obsessed with all things harry potter, and i had hoped for the last few months that the teaser for half blood prince would be in the previews to “the dark knight”. i read it’s not! booo! there has been nothing on the hbp movie out. no teaser, no international trailer. and it’s making me crazy. of course, we are excited about tdk for so many other reasons: christian bale, maggie gyllenhaal, christian bale, gary oldman, and what is being called ground breaking acting by heath ledger. and did i mention christian bale? he is such a great bruce wayne. and maggie is such a better fit for this almost indi feeling batman, much better than mrs. tom cruise. i felt that miscasting was as bad as julia roberts in oceans 11. it just didn’t work. every time i looked at mrs. cruise i thought of oprah and that couch.

i’m off to enter the meals and moves for today!

the plan

my husband is a sweet man. maybe not sweet in the conventional sense, but sweet for me. the other day he went out and bought me three new books: body for life, body for life journal, and eating for life. then he went shopping and bought all new healthy things for us. we don’t have a lot of junk in the house anyway, but it was exciting to get fresh food early in the week, we usually shop on the weekend. so, i have everything ready to begin body for life.

free days and free weights

the ankle is better. still sore and feels a little…lose, maybe is the word? sometimes it’s like nothing is wrong with it, other times, i feel like if i turn the wrong way it’s going to pop. regardless, i hope i am 100% soon.

this week i really did the first actual body for life type week. and today was my cheat day. it felt really odd to be eating mexican food and having some margaritas…but this was my cheat day. well, i think bill philips calls it your free day, because technically it’s not cheating if it is built into the plan. i feel a bit sick from eating “free” after eating so clean all week. maybe that is the point of the free day: it puts you back on track the rest of the week. if i can just get my exercise going back when the ankle feels better, i feel like i will be on my way. (i did lose 3 pounds this week)

but, i am confused with some of the body for life exercise. i need a run down. i read the book. i have scoured the body for life website. i just do not know how to put the plan together. i get the cardio. it’s the strength training, the free weights. i don’t know which ones to do…how many for each muscle group. with that i could use some advice from anyone who has/is been on the program.
